Demolition Services for Your Property

Removing an unwanted structure or site feature is often the first step toward using the space again. Ballard can discuss demolition as part of a property improvement, including access, the limits of removal, debris handling, and the condition you need afterward. The specific structure and site must be assessed before the work is accepted.

A useful demolition estimate describes more than taking something down. It identifies what remains, what leaves the property, and whether slabs, footings, buried material, or grading are included. This prevents an apparently cleared area from becoming an unexpected obstacle for the next phase.

What to include in the conversation

  • Review of the structure or feature proposed for removal
  • Equipment access and protection of adjacent areas
  • Defined demolition and debris handling
  • Discussion of slab or footing removal
  • Site cleanup, backfill, or grading where specified

Choose the Right Scope Before Work Begins

Confirm the exact removal limits

An outbuilding, slab, and foundation can require different work. Photographs and dimensions help, but the site assessment determines whether Ballard’s services fit the job.

Resolve utilities and special materials first

Utility disconnection and any required material assessment belong before demolition. Do not assume the earthwork scope includes handling hazardous materials or specialist abatement.

Plan the next use

A future building area may need deeper removal and different fill than a landscaped space. Share the next project so the cleanup standard and handoff are clear.

Planning the Work

Agree on the excavation limits, final elevations, equipment route, and destination for excavated material before work starts. Share the builder’s or designer’s plans when available. Utility locating, any required approvals, and the handoff to the next contractor belong in the schedule; a cleared or dug site alone is not a finished building site.

What affects your estimate?

Structure size and materials, proximity to other improvements, access for equipment and containers, disposal requirements, and below-ground removal drive the estimate. Debris quantity can matter as much as the footprint.

What to have ready

Gather photos, approximate dimensions, known construction details, utility information, and any plans for the cleared area. Confirm ownership and share any approval requirements already identified for the site.

Questions About Demolition Services

Can you price demolition from a photograph?

A photo can begin the conversation, but access, materials, utilities, and below-ground components may need an on-site review before a firm scope is possible.

Does demolition include hauling debris?

Ask for it to be stated explicitly. The estimate should distinguish removal, loading, hauling, disposal, and any material retained on site.

What if specialized removal is needed?

Specialist work must be identified and coordinated before ordinary demolition proceeds. The project should not be treated as routine debris removal until that is resolved.
